Washi Tape DIY




What do you need:
  1. Masking tape (3/4")
  2. Piece of letter sized acetate (or letter sized glossy photo paper)
  3. Printer Check with the manufacturer to see which kind of acetate you can send through your printer
The steps are fairly easy. If you are not a video watcher just follow these steps:

  1. Print one of the washi tape pdfs  Washi Tape1  Washi Tape2
  2. Somehow tack it to the piece of acetate. You should be able to see the coloured strips through the acetate.
  3. Put the masking tape on the acetate on top of he coloured strips. Line it up as best you can.
  4. Remove the paper from the back of the acetate and remove the tacking tape.
  5. Cut the masking tape so that it doesn't go beyond the edges of the acetate.
  6. Burnish the top and bottom edges of the acetate so that the masking tape doesn't curl up.
  7. Run it through the printer so that the printer prints on top of the masking tape.
  8. Pull the masking tape off and roll it onto a clean straw (the thick ones from fast food places are best.
  9. Use them in projects.

These were quite fun to put together. As usual I didn't take a picture of the final project but what I really wanted to show you today is how to make the tassel. In order to make the tassel, you are going to start with 16 lengths of whatever string you are using. If you want a thicker tassel, use more lengths. Here I used kitchen twine. So the length of each piece of twine should be length of twine= (the length you want for the tassel)*2 + about 5" for the knot.  We are going to be following this knot type (it is called the Josephine knot): So here is what it looks like when you are doing it with a group of strings as opposed to just one. A D&D birthday card

 This card is kind of neat. I used the plastic part from a glue tape roll and put a dice in that. I glued it to a piece of cardstock and then put a black ring around it to give it a finished look. The concept of the dice is that my son rolls it and then looks up the dice roll on the list that is a pull out from the side. I think lots of us get many of these plastic bubbles from various goods. What I did is to scan the plastic bubble and then pixel traced it in Make-The-Cut (MTC). It will have an inner shape and the outer shape. The inner shape gets cut out of the middle of the card. The inner and outer shape get cut out of the contrasting colour. For the slide out part, I attached a piece of ribbon to the back of the pull out and then fed it through the left of the pocket. Thanksgiving blessing bag

We gave away bags filled with yummies at a Thanksgiving dinner we had at our church. I made these tags to go with them: We made 40 of the bags and 60 people showed up to share in the feast. And it was like the fish and the loaves. We expected 40/50 and enough food for 80 people showed up and we were able to feed another group the next day.
