Washi Tape DIY




What do you need:
  1. Masking tape (3/4")
  2. Piece of letter sized acetate (or letter sized glossy photo paper)
  3. Printer Check with the manufacturer to see which kind of acetate you can send through your printer
The steps are fairly easy. If you are not a video watcher just follow these steps:

  1. Print one of the washi tape pdfs  Washi Tape1  Washi Tape2
  2. Somehow tack it to the piece of acetate. You should be able to see the coloured strips through the acetate.
  3. Put the masking tape on the acetate on top of he coloured strips. Line it up as best you can.
  4. Remove the paper from the back of the acetate and remove the tacking tape.
  5. Cut the masking tape so that it doesn't go beyond the edges of the acetate.
  6. Burnish the top and bottom edges of the acetate so that the masking tape doesn't curl up.
  7. Run it through the printer so that the printer prints on top of the masking tape.
  8. Pull the masking tape off and roll it onto a clean straw (the thick ones from fast food places are best.
  9. Use them in projects.

Pokemon Go Birthday Card

I made this very awesome card for my husband for his birthday. The front of the card looks like this:  For those of you who are not pokemon-literate, this is an Onix. So the front says "Have an Onix-pected birthday". The font is pocket monk (if you need to change the words). The key to the pokemon alphabet is that the vowels are small letters and are on tope of the letters around them. So the colours of the letters are: yellow (255,203,0), dark blue (0,58,146), and light blue (129,200,254). Outline each of the yellow letters individually in the dark blue and then make the dark blue outline around the vowels go above the yellow of the letters around it. Fall themed wedding favour bags and Josephine tassel

These were quite fun to put together. As usual I didn't take a picture of the final project but what I really wanted to show you today is how to make the tassel. In order to make the tassel, you are going to start with 16 lengths of whatever string you are using. If you want a thicker tassel, use more lengths. Here I used kitchen twine. So the length of each piece of twine should be length of twine= (the length you want for the tassel)*2 + about 5" for the knot.  We are going to be following this knot type (it is called the Josephine knot): So here is what it looks like when you are doing it with a group of strings as opposed to just one.
